Welcome to the new home of Udi and His Fellow Villagers, the baddest 12 piece funk band in St. Louis!

We're going to be starting a new series of posts called Notes from the Underground, named such because we practice in Nate's basement and because we're in the business of making notes. We're putting them up just in case you're wondering what we're up to in between shows.
They're often really rough takes, so be gentle, but we thought we might as well be putting up content if we want y'all coming back for more. This track's an oldie but a good from James Brown called Funky Drummer. We'll be putting it on our music player, but you can also find it up for download here: http://www.udiandhisfellowvillagers.com/notes/3-22.mp3

Thanks to everyone that came out to the Oyster Bar on Saturday night! It was a great turn out with lots of groovy dancers. We also gave away the first ever UDI t-shirts designed by our own Nate Larson and Michael Browning. Look for them at our next show.
I know it's a bit in the distance, but mark your calendars for April 30th at Off Broadway. We'll be playing along with several other acts at a KDHX Benefit Concert - A Tribute to James Brown! It's sure to be a very funky night.

Come out and groove out this Saturday at the Broadway Oyster Bar. Hot Toddy will be opening for us and they're always a good time. Check out their myspace here: Hot Toddy and the Riff Raff! In fact check our myspace while you're at it: Udi! Rock Rock On!

Well that was a long break... Nate is finally back in town and we are back in business! We'll be playing at the Broadway Oyster Bar this coming Thursday (12/10). Music starts at 9 p.m. and we'll be going on at 11. There may be a tuba coming to the show... How can you pass that up?

Hope to see you all out there!

Two awesome shows in one night! Big thanks to both the Oyster Bar and Grovefest for having us out, and of course to everyone that came out to hear the shows. I don't think either the band, or the crowd wanted the music to stop.
We'll be taking a short break while our drummer leaves town in October, but we'll be back in November to fulfill all your funk needs. Keep checking back, and we'll post shows as they are finalized.

And we're back, with two great shows just around the corner! Next Saturday, the 15th, we will be playing the after party for the naked bike ride! Don't worry, you don't have to be naked, and even if you don't go on the bike ride you can get in. Then, just a week later (August 22nd) at the Gramophone, we'll be opening for one of our favorite bands, The Diplomats of Solid Sound!

Looking forward to seeing you all out at these great shows!

What a week! The KDHX recording was a really amazing experience. The tracks are up on our music player, as well as the entire segment for download (includes interviews). Then there was the gig at The Gramophone that had the whole crowd up and dancing all night! Thanks to everyone that came out, and to Mama Rogers for a great set before us.

We'll see you all in August after the World Naked Bike Ride at the Atomic Cowboy!

After a short hiatus, Udi is back and better than ever with two great events coming up! Firstly, we're going to be on KDHX Tuesday, June 23rd at 3 p.m. on Andy Coco's show, "The Rhythm Section". Then, on Friday the 26th, we're going to be funkin' out at The Gramophone! Don't miss either one!
